“She had just turned 25. She was surrounded, spoiled and loved by great friends. She knew deeply that with every new year she had to make the most of life as she was fast approaching her thirties. She had no material wants, but she still felt empty inside. However, she could never pinpoint what was the real root of the problem. Instead, she blamed her father for her disastrous, passionate and chaotic love life, and her mother for not always feeling as deeply as she craved, and never feeling satisfied. Have you ever felt lost, empty or depressed? And even though you are doing your best to heal this discomfort or negative and toxic behaviors, you keep catching yourself repeating the same pattern and storyline, over and over?
This was my reality. And, after countless therapies and healings, I felt like I had amazingly powerful experiences, but there was always a feeling of incompletion. Finally, I discovered the missing link: Family Constellations.
I was so desperate to understand who I was and where I belonged that I said “Yes” to many different healings. As I say, “Always try one more time. Until you feel it’s the last time.” I tried and what I got from my first session was an enriched understanding of my origins, which instigated a deep release. Things started to become clearer. Everything started to make sense and as a matter of fact, I stopped blaming my parents for where I was in that moment in time, and I decided to take care of myself and my life. After all, they did the best they could.
What is Family Constellations? It is a therapeutic approach that was founded by Bert Hellinger. He spent 16 years in South Africa and participated in group dynamics led by an Anglican clergyman, and he was deeply impressed by the results from these methods which proved it was possible for opposites to become reconciled through mutual respect. When he went back to Germany, he studied many different approaches that shaped and influenced what became his therapeutic method widely known as Family Constellations and Systemic Constellations. Actually, he now calls it ‘Movements of the Spirit-Mind’.
This therapeutic method is an effective way to transform what is holding you back so that you can live your life from a strong foundation of your own potential. It uncovers and dissolves the blockages affecting your relationships, finances, career, and health through the story of your family system. By the power of acknowledging and accepting the complete truth as it is, Family Constellation will break you free from any negative and painful patterns. You will find ‘your place in your family’ and give the place of other family members back to them. You will discover patterns that keep repeating themselves, generation after generation and why. We cannot change our parents or our family, but we can change our perception around it. We can decide to move on, we can decide to stop focusing and obsessing over our past, constantly thinking about what they should have done better or differently. Again, they did the best they could with their own stories.
